Step By Step Instructions Of Fish Fillet Recipe

This is a long recipe. You will have to pass 3 or 4 stages to complete this. So, I am making this recipe a bit long to explain everything in detail.

Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables and Tofu

Prepare the Vegetables and Tofu
  • Begin by peeling and finely chopping the garlic cloves. Next, peel and chop the onion into small, bite-sized pieces. Cut the ginger into thin strips.
  • Use a kitchen knife to slice the carrot into thin, round pieces.
  • Slice the leeks into small, even pieces and set them aside.
  • Slice the tofu into thin, even pieces that are about 1/4 inch thick. This will help ensure they cook evenly.

Step 2: Prepare the Fish Fillet

Prepare the Fish Fillet
  • Rinse the fish fillet under cold running water to remove any impurities. Pat it dry with a paper towel.
  • Use a sharp kitchen knife to cut the fish fillet into 5-7 evenly sized pieces. This will help the fish cook evenly.
  • Place the fish pieces into a bowl. Add ½ teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of salt, and the egg. Mix everything together gently but thoroughly, ensuring the fish is well-coated with the seasoning and egg mixture.

Step 3: Fry the Tofu and Fish

Fry the Tofu and Fish
  • Pour 1 ½ cups of oil into a frypan. Heat the oil over medium heat until it is hot but not smoking.
  • Carefully place the tofu pieces into the hot oil using kitchen tongs. Fry the tofu until it turns golden brown and crispy on both sides. Use a kitchen strainer to remove the tofu from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Place the flour into a bowl. Dredge the seasoned fish pieces in the flour, ensuring they are well-coated.
  • Carefully place the coated fish pieces into the hot oil. Fry them until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Remove the fish from the oil using a kitchen strainer and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 4: Prepare the Sauce

Prepare the Sauce
  • In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of Hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon of Tausi sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and ¾ tablespoon of water. Stir the mixture well until the sugar is dissolved and all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 5: Cook the Vegetables and Sauce

Cook the Vegetables and Sauce
  • In a separate frypan, pour in 3 tablespoons of oil and heat over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the chopped garlic, onion, and ginger to the frypan. Sauté for about 2 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
  • Add the sliced carrots and mushrooms to the frypan. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes, or until the vegetables start to soften.
  • Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the vegetables in the frypan. Stir everything together and cook for another 4-5 minutes, allowing the vegetables to absorb the flavors of the sauce.

Step 6: Combine the Tofu, Fish, and Vegetables

Combine everything
  • Add the fried tofu pieces and fish fillets to the frypan with the vegetables and sauce. Gently stir to coat the tofu and fish with the sauce.
  • Continue cooking for about 2 more minutes, allowing the tofu and fish to heat through and absorb the sauce.

Step 7: Finish the Dish

Finish the Dish
  • Add the sliced leeks to the frypan, then sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cornstarch over the mixture. Stir well to combine, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes. The cornstarch will help thicken the sauce slightly and ensure it clings to the tofu, fish, and vegetables.
  • Once everything is well combined and heated through, transfer the fish fillet and vegetable mixture to a medium serving bowl.
