Beef Wonton Recipe Overview

Ingredients Needed for the Beef Wonton Recipe

Some of the ingredients, such as the wonton skin, can be bought from stores to save time. Most other ingredients should be available in your kitchen. Here is the complete list.

Main Ingredients for the Recipe

  • Beef: Use 500g of good-quality beef. I am only using lean meat without any fat content to make the wontons healthy. You can combine 10-15% of fat if you want. Clean the beef well and pat it dry to remove the excess moisture.
  • Wonton Skin: You will find readymade wonton skins in your nearby stores. These sheets should be stored in the refrigerator.
  • Wonton Broth: This item is also available in stores. If you want to make this from scratch, I will share it in a separate recipe.
  • Ice Water: Use 180g of ice water for grinding the meat. Avoid using too much water as it will make the filling runny.
  • Scallion Oil: 1 tbsp of scallion oil, for the soup base
  • Coriander: Chop a few springs of coriander with the stalks
  • Laver: Use about 10g of laver. This seaweed adds an exotic flavor to the wonton soup.
  • Scallions: Use 2-3 tsp of chopped scallions for the soup base
  • Baking Soda: 7g. This will tenderize the meat.

Sauces and Seasonings for the Recipe

  • Cooking Wine: 2 tbsp
  • Soy Sauce: 1 tbsp. The light soy sauce is preferable here.
  • Pine Mushroom Seasoning: 1 tsp. This is available in stores.
  • White Pepper: 2 tsp of freshly ground white pepper
  • Salt: 2 tsp
